Last weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the Wedding Room for the first time as One Heart Films. Last year, this show, put on by the folks over at the Wedding Co, was at the Carlu, which was a great venue, BUT... this year was EVEN BETTER, as they relocated smack downtown, just above The Bay, in the stunning Arcadian (Court & Loft), one of the numerous O&B properties in the GTA. With a stunning open concept floor plan, the most beautiful black wooden floor, and, most importantly, a full wall of bay windows overlooking Queen street from the 8th floor (hello, City Hall - new and old - Nathan Phillips Square, and basically all of Western downtown), the Arcadian is definitely one of my new 'get-married-there' spots in the city!
Our first @oneheartfilms booth ever. simple & elegant... we think :D
the amazing view (Sunday sunset) from the Arcadian Loft!
And so after an epic IKEA trip (no, Darwin wasn't there!), some downtown parking mishaps, and a mysteriously missing screw, Bowen and I more or less managed to put something nice together! It was quite fun to see our new branding come to life, with that red, white and natural wood booth. While it wasn't the grandest, or the sparkliest, we feel it represented us well, reflected our little three-word motto: "Simple. Elegant. You."
The show was a great opportunity to meet some fun couples - and a lot of brides without their fiancés because, well, let's be honest, the girls often lead this wedding thing ;) - as well as seeing vendors from last year again (hey there, Michelle Yee Photography), getting visits from friends - Jennifer at Ferré Sposa bridal, Therese at Artiese Studios, Kristine at Love Kristine - and meeting some amazing new people we didn't know yet.
Our neighbours were super rad - among others, there was the legendary cake-makers at Bobbette & Belle, the flower wonder-maker Sarah at Petite Studio, the paper gurus of Paper Ideas, and Andrea from Pomp & Ceremony, who makes ridiculously good-looking accessories, especially for men (she took my pocket-square virginity!), as well as Valencienne gowns, The Loved One accessories, Sara Baig Designs, Garrison Bespoke, and Found In Love Photography.
Detail of an invite by our new friends Paper Ideas - they just changed management and now kick serious ass!
Absolutely in love with EVERYTHING made by Pomp & Ceremony
It was also amazing to get to meet some folks we'd had the chance to work with before remotely - Adrienne & Richard at Pikaari (a new online consultation booking service), and the magnificient Elsa Corsi, who's also in Toronto (from Vancouver) for a workshop (tomorrow!) and a trunk show at the Hazelton Hotel on March 7-9 (go, go, go!).
I know this post has been filled with name-dropping, but the thing is that I don't have much to say about us and what we did and said... the Wedding Room is about a boutique experience and, even beyond that, it's about people that are about to get married coming to chat with other folks that are looking forward to working with them.
